Home builders take note: electric fence legislation

As of 1 December last year, all new electric fences and major repairs on fences must be certified with an electric fence system certificate of compliance (COC), according to new legislation.

Home owners with an electric fence are granted a COC when their electric fence installation complies with the law. This new legislation, an amendment to the Electrical Machinery Regulations within the Health and Safety Act 1993, requires that equipment used to install electric fences must be certified and comply with international standards. It also requires that the installation process comply with local standards.

About Lou-Ann Macnamara

Home Inspirations's Sales Consultant

What is your role in the company?

To keep Gary in check! Just kidding. I’m responsible for sales, looking after clients’ needs with regards to adverts, collecting editorial form clients and passing it onto to the editorial department, as well as sourcing new clients and educating them about Home Inspirations. It’s all about the clients.

What is your background?
I studied Travel and Tourism and worked in the travel industry for 10 years. This afforded me the opportunity to travel and see the world. However, I enjoy a good challenge and when I was given the opportunity to go into the media industry, I took it. I worked on selling exhibition space to the mining industry and on a mining trade publication. Then I began working on an architectural publication, also for trade, and was involved with the launching of a new publication for the Fire and Rescue industry. Working on new publications and creating awareness around them showed me that I have what it takes to create something of my own, so it was time for a new challenge. Gary and I decided to launch Fix Shack, a website devoted to linking home maintenance and improvement needs, at the beginning of 2013.

What do you do in your spare time?
Anything but work! I believe that you need to balance your work time and family life. I am a keen cook – one day I will host ‘Come Dine with Me’ in my home. But I dedicate most of my time to my family. I also enjoy a good run and generally run 3-5km every morning. When the kids are out or sleeping, I try to catch up on some reading.
